My Approach
As a qualified Humanistic Person-Centred therapist, my counselling practice is deeply rooted in the core principles established by Carl Rogers:
Unconditional Positive Regard: I offer acceptance without judgment, recognising that many of us have faced external expectations or conditions placed upon us by parents, family, or society. My commitment is to support you in becoming the person you genuinely wish to be, free from imposed expectations or judgments.
Empathy: I believe empathy is foundational to meaningful therapeutic relationships. By actively listening and encouraging you to share your personal experiences and feelings, I aim to truly understand your unique perspective. This empathetic connection fosters trust, safety, and openness, essential elements for effective therapy.
Congruence: Authenticity and honesty are central to my practice. I aim to be genuine and transparent in our sessions, creating an environment where you feel safe to express yourself openly and authentically. This approach encourages deeper self-exploration and alignment with your true self, helping you move beyond societal expectations and any false sense of identity.
Alongside these core person-centred conditions, my therapeutic approach integrates other effective methodologies, including phenomenology and psychoanalytic techniques such as dream interpretation and free association. My aim is to offer a holistic, personalised therapeutic experience specifically tailored to your unique circumstances and goals.
